Srinagar, Jul 16: The age-old traditional rituals 'bhoomi-pujan', 'navgrah pujan' and 'dhawajarohan' connected with commencement of annual 'Chhari-Mubarak' were being performed at Pahalgam in the south Kashmir on auspicious occasion of 'Ashad-Purnima' (Vyas-Purnima) on Tuesday.

About 1.95 lakh pilgrims, including women and sadhus, have darshan at the cave shrine since the commencement of the annual pilgrimage from July 1. The yatra will conclude on August 15, the Rakshabandan day.

'Charri Mubarak' will leave for the holy Cave on August 5 for final darshan on August 15.
The 'Chhari Mubarak', the holy Mace of Lord Shiv, left Shri Amareshwar temple Dashnami Akhara near here this morning under unprecedented security arrangements for Pahalgam, where 'bhoomi pujan', 'navgrah pujan' and 'dhawajarohan' were being performed. The 'Charrai Mubrak' will return to Dashnami Akhara in the evening.

Mahant Deependra Giri, custodian of the Charri Mubarak, shall be taken to historic Shankracharya Temple on August 1, and Sharika Bhawani Temple on August 2 before rituals are performed for Chhari-Sthapana at Shri Amareshwar Temple Dashnami Akhara Srinagar on August 3, 2019.

After performing Chhari-Pujan on the occasion of 'Nag-Panchami' on August 5, Mahant Giri shall carry the Holy Mace to Amarnath cave to have 'darshan' on 'Shravan-Purnima', the 15th of August after having night halts at Pahalgam on August 10 and 11, Chandanwari on 12, Sheshnag on 13 and Panjtarani on 14.

In a communication sent to the State Government, Mahant Giri has urged the State Government to make all the necessary arrangements and take the appropriate preventive measures for the safety and security of the Sadhus & pilgrims accompanying Holy Mace.

Mahant Deependra Giri ji has also advised sadhus and members of civil society to get themselves registered who intend to join Chhari-Mubarak Yatra and stated that only registered pilgrims with valid Yatra Permit shall be allowed to accompany Chhari-Mubarak during the pilgrimage.

Mahadev Gir Dashnami Akhara Trust, Srinagar has made all the arrangements for Sadhus coming from across the country for annual pilgrimage for their food and comfortable stay at Akhara Building, Budshah Chowk, Srinagar.

Before the eruption of militancy, 'Chhari Mubarak', carried by sadhus on foot, used to leave Dashnami Akhara shortly after sunset for a night halt at different places before reaching Pahalgam. The annual yatra used to conclude in fortnight.
However, now Chhari is leaving under very tight security arrangements in the morning directly to Pahalgam to have night halt there.
