121 militants killed in 2019

JAMMU: A total of 121 militants have been killed in counter-insurgency operations by security forces in this year so far in our state, while 19 civilians also lost their lives in the period from January 1 to June 25, 2019.
This was stated by the Home Ministry in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
The total number of militants killed in Jammu and Kashmir since 2016 till date stands at 741.
A total of 150 terrorists were killed in 2016, 213 were killed in 2017, 257 in 2018.
In this year, between January and June 25, 121 militants were killed, taking the total number of those killed during the last three and a half year to 741.
As many as 113 civilians have also lost their lives during this period in the state.
Of them, 15 had died in 2016, 40 in 2017, 39 in 2018 and 19 between January and June 25, this year.
"The government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. Security forces are taking effective and continuous action in countering terrorism. This has resulted in corresponding change in the number of such incidents, including casualties," Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
"Security forces keep a close watch on ersons who attempt to provide support to terrorists and initiate action against them," he added.
