Makers begin filming of 'Bhuj:The Pride of India'

New Delhi, Jun 25 : The makers of Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt starrer war drama 'Bhuj:The Pride of India' on Tuesday began the filming in Ramoji film city in Hyderabad.

The film is based on true events happened during the Indo-Pak war of 1971.

Ajay Devgn will be seen playing an Indian Air Force Officer Squadron Leader (later Wing Commander) Vijay Karnik, while Sanjay Dutt will be portraying the role of a civilian Ranchordas Svabhai Ravari, who helps the Indian forces during the war.

Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik was in-charge of Bhuj airbase during the 1971 war, which remained operational despite facing heavy bombing from Pakistan. Accompanied by 50 air force and 60 defence security personnel, he reconstructed the IAF airstrip at Bhuj.

The film stars Parineeti Chopra who will play Heena Rehman, while Sonakshi Sinha will be seen portraying social worker Sunderben Jetha Madhaparya.

Rana Daggubati will be playing Madras regiment lieutenant colonel and Ammy Virk will be seen as a fighter pilot.

Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, the flick will release on August 14, 2020.
