ACB action continues, SFC HQ raided, 1 held, 2 booked

JAMMU: Continuing its onslaught against corruption and irregularities, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday seized record from the office of Divisional Manager of State Forest Corporation Kishtwar which it raided on the complaint of alleged illegal allotment of a contract.
The anti-graft body also arrested a government official for accepting bribe and booked two others for their involvement in separate graft cases, even as a chargesheet was produced against another official in a 2018 corruption case.
The Doda wing of ACB conducted a Joint Surprise Check of office of Divisional Manager State Forest Corporation Kishtwar on the complaint of illegal allotment of the contract.
“During Surprise check, the ACB team seized the relevant record including DPRs, Contract NITs, Account statements regarding payment to the contractors and other requisite documents,” an official said.
“The search was conducted on the basis of a complaint received in Anti-Corruption Bureau about illegal allotment of the contract of compartment 34-A to a contractor at Dachhan District Kishtwar,” he said.
“It has been alleged that the contractor had not completed the work in time and besides one more contract was given to the said contractor of the same compartment which caused loss to the state exchequer. Further course of action shall be under taken after scrutiny of record is completed into the matter,” he added.
In the second case, Ghulam Mohammad Parray, a Junior Assistant in District Forest Office (DFO) Awantipora was arrested for accepting bribe.
“ACB received a complaint that Ghulam Mohammad Parray, Junior Assistant in DFO Office Awantipora, Pulwama has demanded Rs 7000 for renewal of License for Joinery Mill at Srinagar,” an official associated with probe told The News Now.
“Acting on the complaint, a trap team of ACB arrested the accused and recovered the bribe money,” he added.
He said that in this regard case has been registered with ACB’s wing of South Kashmir Srinagar under FIR No. 05/2019 and further investigation is going on,” an ACB official said.
In another case, ACB has registered an FIR against then ZEO Anantnag and a Rehbar-e-Talem Teacher from drawing salary illegally and fraudulently.
“ACB has registered against Ghulam Mohammad Itoo, the then ZEO Anantnag and Shafiqa Akhter a Rehbar-e-Talem (ReT) teacher of education department, Zone Anantnag on the basis of outcome of preliminary enquiry conducted in the bureau related to drawl of salary, illegally and fraudulently in favour of said ReT Teacher during the period 2005-2013 which has inflicted monetary loss to the state exchequer.”
“The investigation of the case has been set into motion for in-depth probe. Police Station ACB, South Kashmir has registered case FIR No. 04/2019 under section 5 (2) of J&K P.C Act Svt. 2006 r/w section 120-B RPC,” he added
Finally, the ACB Kashmir has presented a charge sheet against SO FCS&CA Parvaiz Ahmad Siraj, who was booked for demanding and acceptance a bribe of Rs. 2000.
One Mohammad Altaf Dar resident of Arigam, Kashmir had alleged that the accused demanded bribe in connection with processing of time bound promotion case.
The accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2000 on March 2nd 2018.
