SRINAGAR: The body of a 20-year-old college student was recovered on Tuesday near an encounter site in Anantnag district, where a militant and an Army officer were killed a day ago.
Nasir Ahmad Mir's body bore bullet wounds and was recovered near the encounter site in Achabal area in the morning, an official said.
The body of Mir, a resident of Checki Achabal, was taken into custody by the police and sent for post-mortem, the official said.
Major Ketan Sharma (32) was martyred while another officer of the same rank and two soldiers were injured in the encounter in Badoora, Achabal area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday.
The Martyr was an Engineer officer attached with 19 RR. Hailing from Meerut in UttarPradesh, Major Sharma hails from was commissioned in Army on 8th December 2012. He is survived by his wife and a 3-year-old daughter.
Besides, one militant was also killed in the exchange of the fire.
On Tuesday, police said that the militant remained unidentified and was a foreigner and part of Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit.
“He was a well-trained militant,” a police officer told.
