Div Com reviews progress on establishment of SWMPs in districts

JAMMU, JUNE 17: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, today convened a meeting with Deputy Commissioners to review the progress on establishment of Solid Waste Management Plants in all districts of the division.
The meeting was attended by Director Urban Local Bodies, Jammu, Vir Ji Hangloo, Regional Director Pollution Control Board Jammu, Dr Syed Nadeem Hussain, Commissioner JMC, Pankaj Magotra and other concerned officers while Deputy Commissioners of Jammu Division along with other concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.
The meeting was informed that the land for establishment of Solid Waste Management Plants has been identified in all the districts.
DC Doda and DC Samba informed that land for the project has been identified and revenue papers have been prepared.
The Div Com passed directions for inspection of site and site approval besides asking the DCs to transfer the land to the concerned department for further actions after prior approval.
DC Kishtwar, Reasi, Jammu, Kathua informed that land has been identified while inspection and approval of Pollution Control Board is pending.
DC Poonch informed the Div Com that they have identified land for establishment of SWMP and Pollution Control Board approval has also been received.
DC Udhampur informed the Div Com that they have identified land measuring 98 Kanal in the district for establishment of SWMP and revenue papers, Pollution control Board approval has also been done. He further informed that after tender the activities would be started.
DC Rajouri informed that they have identified 4 different locations and they are in process of preparing revenue papers of proposed sites.
DC Kathua informed that identification of land in other locations is in progress.
The Div Com directed the DC and Pollution Control Board to jointly conduct visits and inspect the proposed sites for early establishment of Solid Waste Management Plants in all districts of the Division.
