Police pays floral tribute to SHO killed in militant attack in Anantnag

Srinagar, Jun 17: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday paid tribute to an officer, who succumbed on Sunday to his injured incurred in a militant attack in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on June 12.

Station House Officer (SHO) Sadar Police Station Arshad Khan, who was critically injured when militants attacked security forces patrolling party at busy KP road in Anantnag last Wednesday, succumbed at AIIMS in New Delhi on Sunday.

A police spokesperson here said a wreath laying ceremony was held in District Police Line (DPL) Srinagar, where floral tributes were paid to the martyr.


''Advisor to the Governor, K Vijay Kumar and Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbagh Singh led police, civil officers and jawans in laying the floral wreaths on the bodies of the martyr,'' he said.

He said the minor son of Mr Khan also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by his father.
A local militant outfit Al-Umar had claimed responsibility for the attack that left five CRPF personnel dead and two people, including Khan and a woman, injured.

He said Khan was on Wednesday taken to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar from where he was referred to AIIMS in a critical condition. ''Khan developed complication and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday,'' he said.

His mortal remains were flown to Srinagar on Monday.
