Intergenerational walkathon organised as part of 'Ageing with Dignity' campaign

Rajouri, June,15:The Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Rajouri Mr. Shahzad Azeem in compliance to the directions of the Hon'ble The Chief Justice of J&K High Court, Justice Gita Mittal, 'Patron-in-Chief’ and Worthy Executive Chairman Hon'ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal, J&K State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), and in furtherance to the campaign "Ageing with Dignity" on 15th June 2019 organized an "Intergenerational Walkathon" for Senior Citizens & Youth to facilitate 'Healthy & Active Ageing' & to promote Intergenerational bonding from New Bus Stand to Dak Bunglow, Rajouri by joint participation of Local Residents, students from DPS Rajouri, Ex-Service men, Local Army Regiments including 48 RR & Romeo Force. The Walkathon was flagged off by the Chairman DLSA, Rajouri along with Sh. Kuldeep Raj Gupta Ex-Vice Chairman, Pahari Advisory Board, J&K who is 81 years old in presence of Secretary DLSA, Rajouri Sh. Meyank Gupta, ADC Rajouri Sh Sher Singh, SSP Yougal Manhas & Add. SP Rajouri, District Youth & Sports officer. The other officers of Civil Adminstration were also present along with DLSA Staff, Retainer Lawyers & PLV's. On this occasion, ADC Rajouri was Chief Guest and SSP Rajouri was Guest of Honour.

During the course of proceeding, the Chairman DLSA, Rajouri addressed the august gathering and apprised them about the importance of this Campaign. At the culmination of Walkathon, all the participants were given certificates and Senior Citizens who were more than 80 years of age were facilitated & honoured by giving trophy & certificates.

It was followed by another programme at Dak Bunglow, Rajouri to celebrate "World Elder Abuse Awareness Day" in which various camps were organized including legal awareness camp for Senior Citizens, Aadhar Camp, Pension Scheme and other beneficial schemes with the active participation of DSWO, Rajouri Mohd Naseeb, Health Check up camp comprising ENT, Eye and general physician. On this occasion nutritious food stalls were also kept. It was followed by a yoga camp by Dr. Satish yoga expert who acquainted the august gathering regarding benefits of yoga including laughter yoga.

Further on this occasion DLSA Rajouri, Heath Dept and Social Welfare Dept. Rajouri distributed walking sticks, hearing aids and Spectacles amongst the Senior Citizens. Even a cultural programme was also organized with the active participation of Arts, Cultural & Language Dept. who played a skit on Senior Citizens abuse & neglect followed by Folk themes of Rajouri.
