Jammu, Jun 13: A month long "shramdan" of Army including officers, JCOs and soldiers helped in face-lifting the dumping sites in Nagrota area here on city outskirts.

In consonance with the 'National Mission - Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' to preserve the environment, the Nagrota based White Knight Corps took the noble initiative of conducting a month long cleanliness drive for a healthy and clean environment.

Areas where illegal disposal of garbage was rampant were identified, said a defence spokesman.

He said that to improve these areas involved earth work, construction of drainages, ground leveling to channelize the flow of rain water to avoid accumulation.

"Unfazed by the blazing heat or by the mammoth dump of waste material, the tireless contribution ‘Shramdan’ of the Officers, JCOs and Soldiers was instrumental in the ‘Facelift’ of the entire area," he added.
