Polling ends on 3 Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand

Ranchi, May 19 : Polling today came to an end on three Lok Sabha seats of Santhal Pargana division of the state comprising the constituencies of Rajmahal (ST), Dumka (ST) and Godda were more than 65 per cent average voter turn out was recorded.

Till 1500hrs, an average voter turnout of 64.81 per cent was recorded on these three seats while constituency wise Rajmahal had recorded voter turnout of 64.68 per cent while Dumka had seen a voter turnout of 66.79 per cent and Godda had witnessed voter turnout of 63.30 per cent.

Officials at the office of the state's chief electoral officer said, more than 65 per cent average voter turn out has been recorded on these seats however a final figure will be available in couple of hours time as data from many centers is still being compiled while at few polling booths people who are standing in the queue are still being allowed to vote.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Rajmahal had witnessed a voter turn out of 70.32 per cent, Dumka 70.94 per cent and Godda 65.98 per cent.

Prominent candidates who were in the race for these three seats included Vijay Hansda of the JMM and Hemlal Murmu of the BJP from Rajmahal, Shibu Soren of JMM and Sunil Soren of BJP from Dumka, Pradeep Yadav of the JVM(P) and Nishikant Dubey of BJP from Godda.
