Sarkar becomes first Bangladesh batsman to score double-ton in List A game
Dhaka, Apr 24 (UNI) Soumya Sarkar became the first Bangladesh batsman to score a double-century in a List A game, after amassing an unbeaten 208 against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the Dhaka Premier League on Tuesday.
The left-handed batsman took Abahani Limited to a nine wickets win, helping his team to lift the cup.
During his memorable innings, Sarkar made two more records, hitting most sixes in a List A innings by a Bangladesh batsman and also post highest partnership at any stand in the tournament.
His 153-ball knock featured 14 fours and 16 sixes. He shared a first-wicket stand of 312 with Jahural Islam (100).
This was his second successive three digits score -the left-handed hit 106 against Legends of Rugpanj on Sunday.
The highest List A score of all time remains Ali Brown’s 150-ball 268 for Surrey against Glamorgan in 2002.
Sarkar was named in Bangladesh’s squad for this year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup last week.
