Sensex regains 39K-level, ends higher at 39,054.68 pts on back of gains in ONGC, IndusInd Bank
Mumbai, Apr 24 (UNI) Breaking the losing streak of last three
sessions, the BSE Sensex recovered on Wednesday by 489.80 points to
reclaim the 39K-level and end at 39,054.68 on strength of gains in
ONGC, IndusInd Bank, Yes Bank and Bharti Airtel.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too increased by 150.20
points to 11,726.15.
The Sensex, which had slumped by 710 points in last three sessions,
edged higher today by 108 points to 38,672.63 in early trade and
then rallied by 531 points to touch day's high of 39,095.35 before
closing positive at 39,054.68, gaining by 489.80 points versus its
last close.
The gains in sectoral indices like Energy, Finance, IT, Telecom,
Bankex and Oil & Gas pushed the market up today, along with scrips
of HCL Technology, ONC, IndusInd Bank and Yes Bank.
The broader markets outperformed the Sensex, as the S&P BSE Mid-Cap
index and Small-Cap rose 0.43 per cent and 0.42 pc, respectively.
The market breadth was weaker on BSE, as 1,247 shares advanced
against 1,249 declined and 158 were unchanged.
