New Delhi, Apr 20 : Congress leader and Punjab cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday said he had no regrets on the denial of the Lok Sabha ticket from Chandigarh to his wife Navjot Kaur but added that contesting from Bhatinda was not possible as she would fight from a place where she could do justice

Addressing mediapersons at the AICC headquarters, Mr Sidhu said,'My wife had applied from Chandigarh. She was not given a ticket. We are party's loyal soldiers. If there is a denial over ticket, that means nothing to us. We tried to make an MP from there.'

On the offer to her to contest from Bhatinda, Sidhu said,'I am happy that what we got we got it without asking. So there is no regret whatsoever. But my wife will only fight from a place from where she can do justice. Our home is in Amritsar, I live in Chandigarh also but if someone will say to fight from Bhatinda or any other place, that won't be possible.'

'Fighting an election is easy but doing justice? That is why we won seven elections. my father won two, and we won five elections. That is the trust of the people,' he said.

Sidhu said that he and his wife would fully support Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal , who had been fielded from Chandigarh.

'The party high command decided to field Pawan Bansal from Chandigarh. We will fully support him,' he said.

Meanwhile, in an apparent jibe at the Aam Aadmi Party over the status of alliance with the grand old party in Delhi, Mr Sidhu said, 'one should not forget that he is just a pawn in the game of chess.'
