Jet Airways employees protest against shutdown

New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) Employees of the grounded airline Jet Airways on Thursday protested at the Jantar Mantar here against the complete suspension of its operations.
On Wednesday evening, the airline announced suspension of operations ‘temporarily’ after the banks refused to provide immediate funding.
A large number of employees, holding placards saying “Save Jet Airways”, "Save Our Future", marched peacefully at the Jantar Martar to draw the attention of the government into the matter. Pilots, engineers, crew members and ground staff participated in the agitation.
They were protesting against the complete suspension of the operations and have been demanding their salaries, pending since January 2019.

The Society For Welfare of Indian Pilots and Jet Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Welfare Association had decided to conduct a peaceful march for a cause to save the airline with a request to the government, the Association said.
Earlier, on April 13, the airline employees had organised a peaceful silent march at Terminal -3 of the IGI airport demanding their salaries.
The Jet Airways has been facing a mounting debt of more than Rs 8,000 crore. On March 25, the airline’s Board Meet has decided to infuse a capital of Rs 1500 crore immediately to put the carrier on the roadmap of recovery.
However, the decision could not be materialise till date. Yesterday, the airline suspended its all operations temporarily due to lack of immediate funding.
