Symbol for 'Organ Donation' unveiled by Fortis
New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) While many people across India have been sensitised about organ donation, its importance and the need to donate organs, there was no symbol or identity which could be related to the cause.
Understanding the need, Fortis Healthcare unveiled the symbol for organ donation- Three dots, signifying continuity of life.
Fortis Healthcare, the official healthcare partner for the IPL team Delhi Capitals, yesterday organised an where they launched the logo.
IPL team players Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Kagsio Radabada and Trent Boult were present at the event.
Other guests included Dr Samir Parikh, Director, Department of Behavioural Sciences and Mental Health, Fortis Healthcare and Dr. Sandeep Dewan, Director, Critical Care, FMRI & FEHI.
"The idea was to crowdsource a symbol for organ donation. Thousands of entries were received from across the country and after multiple rounds of judging, we had our winning entry and finally derived the Organ Donation Symbol - Three dots, signifying continuity of life," said Jasrita Dhir, Head, Marketing & Brand, Fortis Healthcare.
Delhi Capitals cricketer Shikhar Dhawan said, “I want to request everyone to become an organ donor. I myself am an organ donor and have already pledged to donate my eyes."
At the unveiling of the symbol Rajdeepak Das, MD India and Chief Creative Officer, Leo Burnett India said, “This is an extremely noble Humankind initiative - and is exactly the kind of work we at Leo Burnett are proud of. For the first time a shroud has been designed as a mark of honour for organ donors. We hope that this will bring about a change in the attitude towards organ donation and organ donors.”

Fortis’ ‘More to Give’ initiative seeks to mobilise the nation in this direction. Since the launch of Fortis “More to Give” Campaign in 2016, India’s Organ donation rate has significantly improved from 0.5 to 0.88," the statement added.
