14 of 24 crorepatis, 4 with criminal records

JAMMU: Out of the 24 candidates are in fray for the parliamentary constituencies Udhampur and Srinagar, 14 are corepatis, even as four of them including former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah have criminal cases registered against them.

Both the constituencies are going to polls on April 18.

Out of 14 corepati candidates, People Conference’s candidate from Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, Irfan Ansari Raza tops the list with total assets of more than worth Rs 66 cores.

Congress’ candidate from Udhmapur Lok Sabha seat, Vikramaditya maintained second spot with total assets of worth Rs 36 crore.

Third spot is maintained by Farooq Abdulla, National Conference candidate from Lok Sabha seat Srinagar with total assets of worth Rs 12 core. Other Corepati candidates included BJP’s Jatinder Singh with total assets of 7 crore, BJP’s Sheikh Khalid Jehnagir with total assets of 4 core.

Moreover, BSP’s Tilak Raj Bhaghat , NCP’s Mohd Ayub and DSS’s Lal Singh have total assets of 2 crore. JKNPP’s Harsh Dev Singh, PDP’s Aga Sayed Moshin, IND’s Bilal Sultan, Rakesh Mudgal, Bansi Lal and Abdul Rashid Bandey have total assets of worth Rs 1 crore.

National Conference’s (NC) Farooq Abdullah is among four candidates, who have criminal records. This revelation was made by the Jammu and Kashmir Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

The reports said that out of twenty four candidates, four have criminal records. Besides Farooq, Harshdev Singh from Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, Sheikh Khalid Jahangir from Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Mohd Ayub from Navrang Congress Party are candidates with criminal record.

While Harshdev (JKNPP) has three FIRs in his credit having No 34/2017, 121/2018 and 366/2018 which including rioting, assault on public servant and rioting armed with deadly weapons, Farooq Abdullah has been booked in case FIR No RC S(S) 2015 in Police Station Delhi having charge of criminal conspiracy and breach of trust.

Reports said that BJP’s Sheikh Khalid Jahangir has been booked in case FIR No 29/2019 having charges of defamation and Navrang Congress Party’s Mohd Ayub has been booked in case FIR No 48/2012 in Police Station Mahore under section 3/7 EC Act.

Revealing Educational details, reports claims that out of twenty four candidates twelve are under graduate. Reports said that unlike Phase 1 elections, one female candidate is contesting in phase II. ADR revealed her name as Meenaksh contesting on Udhampur constituency.

It said that out of twenty four candidates eleven have not given their ITR details while as two candidates did not declare their PAN details.
