Don’t let students drive two-wheelers without documents: Police

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir traffic Police issued an advisory to all the educational institutions asking them not to allow School children to drive scooters, motorcycles without a crash helmet, driving licenses and valid documents.

“It has been noticed that students of different educational institutions within the limits of City Srinagar uses scooties, motor cycles as a mode of transportation by violating various rules of M.V Act. As such Head of the Schools/Parents are requested not to allow School children to drive Scooties/Motor cycles without crash helmet, without driving licenses and other valid documents,” the advisory reads.

It urged all the principals of education institutions in Srinagar to advise students to follow the traffic rules properly.

“Likewise concerned parents may also be informed to ensure the safety of their wards no children below the age of 18 years be permitted to drive the two-wheelers,” it said.
The advisory further reads that students falling in major age group be permitted to drive two wheelers only if they are in possession of a driving license, crash helmets and other valid documents.

Traffic officials told TNN that the order has been issued for benefit of students.

“As students are most who are violating the traffic rules, near about 350 challans happen every day out of which most are students,” he said.
