NC President Dr Farooq files nomination papers for Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary constituency

Srinagar, Mar 25: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday filed his nomination papers for upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Srinagar.

Dr Abdullah will contest the polls from Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency and filed the papers at Deputy Commissioners office in Srinagar.

Others who are in the fray in include Peoples Democratic Party’s Agha Mohsin and Peoples Conference candidate Irfan Ansari.

In 2017 bypolls, Abdullah won the elections for the parliamentary seat. The polls witnessed a record low voter turn out of 7 per cent and witnessed intense protests that led to the killing of eight people.

NC and Congress have forged an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. While Congress has not fielded any candidate from Srinagar, NC has said there will be “friendly” contest in Jammu.
