Infant charred to death

SRINAGAR: In a heart-wrenching incident, an eleventh-month-old child was charred to death at his residence after his family rushed out to help the people who had met with an accident outside their residence in Parantilla area of Uri in north Kashmir’s in Baramulla district.

Reports said that a car met with an accident in Parantilla Uri. The sound made Maqbool Ahmad and his family members rush out of their residence, leaving behind their child sleeping inside the house.
However, when the family was heading back towards the house they found it in blazes, and a charred body of their child identified as Umaid Ahmed, son of Mohammad Maqsood.

“The house belonging to Maqbool Ahmad in Uri caught fire due to unknown reasons, a police spokesperson said, adding, “Umeed Ahmad, son of the house owner, died in the incident.”

The cause of the blaze is being ascertained, he said further.

After all the medico-legal formalities the body of the child was handed over to his family for the last rites.

Earlier, on Sunday morning a Alto 800 car met with an accident in Parantilla Uri and resulted in on spot death of a one person identified as Anayat Awan and two others identified as Azhar Awan and Musk Banoo injured.

Soon after the accident, the two injured people were rushed to Sub-District hospital Uri where from they were referred to district hospital Baramulla. Both the injured persons are said to be critical.
