Social Forestry Division Udhampur launches plantation drive

UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 23: Social Forestry Division Udhampur, in its ongoing efforts to add green cover and improve road side aesthetics, has launched a massive winter plantation drive along-side Dhar Road at Majalta.
Director Social Forestry, J&K, Dr. Neelu Ghera and Regional Director, Social Forestry Jammu, Dr. Kumar MK were present on the occasion.
During the daylong plantation drive, 1200 saplings were planted including large number of ornamental saplings, Chinar and Golden cypress.
Later, an awareness camp was held at the same location where Director Social Forestry, J&K, Dr. Neelu Ghera was the chief guest.
On the occasion, Director interacted with the locals who demanded establishment of Village Wood Lots at Bharnara, Thial and Kail localities besides plantation of local species including fruit bearing plants to meet timber requirements and manage Monkey menace.
