Awareness camp on FMD organised at Bandipora
BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 21: Department of Animal Husbandry Thursday organised a day-long awareness programme on Foot and Mouth Disease Control Programme (FMD CP).
Around 150 progressive dairy farmers of the district participated in the programme. Chief Animal Husbandry officer Dr Altaf Kangoo advised the farmers to go for timely vaccination of cattle against FMD. It was informed that about one Lakh cattle got vaccinated against the FMD recently.
The experts informed the participants that FMD is a highly contagious and most serious disease for livestock. They said the disease affects cloven-hoofed animals (those with divided hoofs), including cattle, buffalo, camels, sheep, goats, deer and can be prevented by proper vaccination.
Meanwhile, participating farmers were provided free of cost Veterinary nutrient supplements and Dewormers for their cattle. Dr. Aarif Khan, Technical Officer to Chief Animal Husbandry Officer gave detailed Power Point Presentation on profitable Dairy farming.
