Srinagar, Feb 11: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said she spoke to Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who assured her that arrangements will be made to airlift passengers stranded from many days in Jammu due to closure of Kashmir highway.

“Spoke to @nsitharaman ji regarding passengers who have been stranded in Jammu for many days now. She has assured me that arrangements will be made to airlift them soon,” Ms Mehbooba, who is the former chief minister of J&K, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Ms Mehbooba also retweeted a tweet by the Defence Minister, which read, “Army to help air-lift stranded students and others from Jammu to Srinagar and vice-versa. Inclement weather affected their movement. Acknowledge the phone call of @MehboobaMufti on this matter. Also just spoke with DC Jammu. @PIB_India @ANI @SpokespersonMoD @DefenceMinIndia.”

Kashmir valley remained cut off from the rest of the country for the sixth successive day on Monday following closure of the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway due to landslides, triggered by snow and rain last week.
