EVM/VVPAT training for Media persons at Baramulla

BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 06: With a view to spread electoral literacy among various stakeholders of the society, a training cum awareness programme on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines was today organised here in which eminent journalists of the district participated.
During the training programme, the media persons were imparted the requisite training by the master trainers who acquainted them about its functioning in detail.
It was informed that the VVPAT will be used for the first time in the upcoming elections to the Lok Sabha and state assembly.
The trainers were explained about the functioning of Ballot Unit, Control Unit and other allied functions and operations of the electronic voting machines.
Meanwhile, District Election Officer Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash highlighted the role of media fraternity in upholding democratic values and asked them to make the common masses aware through their outlets so that a positive narrative is established about free and fair conduct of elections.
