SFs launch CASO in Kupwara

Baramulla, Feb 6: Security forces on Wednesday launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said.

Acting on a tip-off, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and CRPF launched a joint search operation at Hajam Mohalla, Lolab in the frontier district of Kupwara, braving chilly weather condition due to rain and snow.

All the exit points were sealed and house-to-house searches were conducted, they said, adding that no contact was established with the militants.

The operation was going on when the reports last came in, they added.

The intelligence reports said the militants, who were hiding in the woods, have come to the villages after heavy to very heavy snowfall in the upper heights.
