Jammu, Jan 20: In a yet another incident of ceasefire violation, Pakistani Rangers on Sunday fired unprovoked along International Border (IB) in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district in Jammu region.

Meanwhile, BSF troops effectively retaliated to the firing.

“Pakistani Rangers this morning at around 1100 hrs fired small arms in Hiranagar area,” official spokesman here said.

He said that the BSF troops responded by limited fire, adding, “no loss or damage on Indian side has been reported so far while no further firing resorted by either side”.

Earlier on January 18, Pakistan fired small arms and violated the ceasefire on the IB while on January 15, a BSF attained martyrdom in sniper fire from across the border along the IB in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district.

Pakistani Army has also opened the front along the Line of Control (LoC) and firing unprovoked for the past two weeks in Poonch and Rajouri sectors.

Indian Army gave a befitting reply to the cross border firing.

Northern Command Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh on Thursday said that five Pakistani soldiers were killed and several injured by the Indian Army in retaliation along the LoC over the last few days.
