Srinagar, Jan 19: Despite snowfall the students of Government run winter tutorial centre in Hariganiwan Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Saturday protested against the non-availability of the required teaching staff at the centre.

The students staged a protest by blocking Srinagar-Sonamarg highway, demanding adequate teaching staff. The protesting students while demanding appointment of staff at the centre alleged that there are no required number of teachers in the centre. “Only three teachers are posted at the centre due to which we are suffering.”

“On one side government is claiming that it will provide proper and free education during winters but on the ground the claim of the government is hollow,” they alleged.

The parents of the agitating students said that it was unfortunate that despite having good strength of 300 students in the winter tutorial centre, the education department was not providing adequate staff to the students.

Meanwhile, Police rushed to the spot and assured the protesters that the matter will be taken up with higher authorities.
