LS polls: CEO to meet Pol parties today

JAMMU: The Chief Electoral Officer Jammu and Kashmir Shailendra Kumar has convened a meeting of all political parties in Jammu on Friday regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state, even as the haze surrounding the timing of assembly elections is yet to be cleared.
In a letter sent to ten political parties including National Conference, PDP, Congress and BJP, the CEO has also hinted that parliamentary and assembly election may not take place together in the state.
“In order to review the general preparedness for the forthcoming General Elections 2019, Chief Electoral Officer J&K has desired to convene a meeting of all political parties on January 18 at 11:00 am in his office chamber, Vikas Bhawan Railhead complex, Jammu,” reads the letter addressed to the president and general secretaries of the said parties by Deputy CEO, J&K, Anil Salgotra.
“Accordingly I am directed to request you to attend the said meeting on the scheduled date and time,” reads a letter.
