JAMMU: Running four months behind the earlier fixed schedule, the Administrative Secretaries of different Departments—with powers equivalent to ministers in President’s rule—will be interacting with general public in a Live-Phone-in-Programme to be telecast on Doordarshan every Monday and Tuesday evening, a first for Jammu and Kashmir.
In September 2018, a seven-week –long series was announced which was to begin September 17 on Doordarshan TV at 5 pm every Monday, but the same could not take off for some reasons.
Four months later, the government on Thursday has issued a fresh notification informing that the Live-Phone-in-Programme will now be telecast on Doordarshan on every Monday and Tuesday at 5 in the evening over the next one month with the Administrative Secretaries of different Departments and HODS of Kashmir Division, regarding the developmental scenario and public issues.
“The aim and objective is to highlight and disseminate the programmes, policies, activities and achievements of the Government, besides creating awareness amongst the people about the initiatives taken,” an official order read, adding that the programme has been worked out by the Information Department.
In the first phase, the Chief Secretary has approved roster for first 4 weeks.
While it will be Director, Horticulture Kashmir to start the series with on January 21 on Doordarshan Kendar Srinagar, he will be followed by Administrative Secretary, Agriculture Production & Horticulture Department the next day on Doordarshan Kendar Jammu.
The second week of the series would see Director, Animal Husbandry, Kashmir taking calls on January 28 on Doordarshan Kendar Srinagar and Administrative Secretary, Power Development Department on January 29 on Doordarshan Kendar Jammu.
The month of February will feature Administrative Secretaries of Housing & Urban Development Department, Social Welfare Department, and School Education Department, who will be participating in the program on February 5, 12, 19, respectively on Doordarshan Kendar Jammu, whereas Director, Sheep Husbandry Kashmir, Chief Engineer PWD, R&B Kashmir, and Director Agriculture Kashmir will be live on Doordarshan Kendar Srinagar on February 4, 11, 18, respectively.
All the Administrative Secretaries have been urged to participate in the programme as per the above schedule, the order added.
