Kissan Mela held at Ganderbal

GANDERBAL, JANUARY 17: Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal inaugurated a mega Kissan mela, here today.
The mela was organised by Department of Agriculture Ganderbal under centrally sponsored scheme Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA).
ADC Ganderbal, Naseer Ahmad Wani, Joint Director Agriculture Kashmir Choudhary Mohammad Iqbal, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Agriculture Officer and other sectoral officers of the district were present on the occasion.
Around 1000 farmers from every nook and corner of the district participated in the day-long Kissan Mela and were appraised about different modern agriculture techniques.
The ADDC along with Joint Director Agriculture Kashmir inspected the stalls erected by the department and allied sectors and interacted with the participating farmers to get the feedback on various schemes. The stalls exhibited high yielding hybrid plant saplings, seed varieties and latest machinery for various farming related activities.
Scientists from KVK Ganderbal and officers from Department of Agriculture shared information with the farmers about modern techniques to be adopted in agriculture, Mushroom Cultivation, Apiculture, Kitchen gardening and poultry rearing with the participating farmers. Besides, the farmers were also given knowledge of different centrally sponsored schemes in vogue in the agriculture sector and different incentives available to them under these schemes.
Later, ADDC distributed certificates among the progressive farmers for their achievements.
