Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP Govt has failed to handle situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

“BJP virtually failed to handle the situation in J&K during its unholy coalition in the State,” JKPCC Chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir said while addressing a convention at Sangrampur in Marh constituency organized by Thakur Balwan Singh, former Congress MLA.

He said the worst ever mis-governance and misrule of PDP-BJP left the people of the State in lurch and the overall situation deteriorated in Kashmir Valley.

Mr Mir said BJP and PDP entered into an opportunist alliance for the sake of power and compromised their core issues for the sake of power.

“They remained engaged in the tug of war during their whole period in office, which caused great harm to the secular and social fabric of the State,” said Mr Mir adding that BJP has mastery of falsehood and fake slogans and pursued destructive and divisive politics in the country.

Mr Mir said that Congress always strengthen democracy and countered the anti-national and anti-democracy forces at the cost of sacrifices.

He said Congress is the only secular and unifying force in the country which strengthened the secularism and asked the party cadre to educate masses about failures of Modi Govt on all fronts and to deliver on their poll promises besides worst ever betrayal with people of the sate during their unholy coalition.

Describing the Congress Party, as the only secular and unifying force in state, Mr Mir said that Congress Party has always strengthened the secularism and it will continue to safeguard the secular fabric of the state.

He said Congress Party will defeat the designs of communal and divisive forces creating atmosphere of discord and will not allow them to play with the emotions of people for political gains.

He said that Congress party has always stood for equitable development of all regions and strengthening of democratic institutions at all levels for devolution of powers to the people for their better participation in the governance.

“Congress party has emerged a vibrant force in all regions of the state and there is positive change in the mindset and the mood of the people because of the policies and programmes of the Congress party,” he added and said that his perception and understanding of the situation is that Congress would emerge as the largest party in the next assembly elections.

Mr Mir expressed concern over the disturbing socio-political scenario obtaining out of misrule and mismanagement by previous PDP-BJP Coalition in the State.

“The former minister blamed the BJP for failing to create peaceful atmosphere, rather it created social and political uncertainty aiming to remain in power,” he added.

“The first time rule under BJP proved to be worse of its kind where the common masses were suffering and ruling class enjoyed royal lifestyle,” he said adding, “they never cared for Jammu where from they got their votes. The people who voted them to power faced frequent power cuts, lack of drinking water supply, price rise of essential commodities, militant went up like in 90s, failed to deal with Pakistan on borders, border violated increased due to which many soldiers got martyred in absence of strong foreign policy.”
