JAMMU: Though non committal on details at this stage, the Bhartiya Janta Party vice-president and in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir affairs, Avinash Rai Khanna today said that saffron party will run alone in the state on all six seats for forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Even as BJP’s alliance with Sajad Lone’s Peoples Conference is widely expected but Khanna reiterated that party will not have alliance with anyone for the Lone Sabha elections. On being specifically asked about arrangement with the Peoples Conference on three seats in Kashmir Valley, Khanna again asserted that BJP is set to run alone for all six seats.

Peoples Conference has been a publically declared alliance partner of the BJP since 2014 elections, unlike PDP. The strength of alliance was on display as recently as on November 21 when Sajad staked claim to form government on the basis of support of 26 legislators of the BJP.

The BJP has won three seats in 2014 but at the moment it holds only two as its Ladakh MP resigned from Lok Sabha and also quit the party.

Avinash Khanna was in Jammu Tuesday for a crucial party meeting.

Addressing the press, Khanna emphasized that the restoration of peace is the main focus of BJP in the state of J&K as the peace and development are correlated. Leaders of Congress, NC and PDP are trying to delude people by coming back to their old line of supporting separatists, militants and anti-National gangs who raised anti-National slogans. They are once again trying to derail the process of establishment of peace process in the state, but they must refrain from these stunts, to gain cheap publicity. Congress, NC and PDP are ditching people of state by deceptive propagandas. They are ruining precious time and future of youth by promoting alienation and restlessness.

BJP is committed to develop all regions of state with vision to promote youth towards mainstream leading them on the path of prosperity, he said and added that there are ample opportunities in the state to harness, still unexplored in sectors like agriculture, industry, tourism and others which have enough potential to take the state way ahead on the path of peace and development.
