DEO Kathua reviews operationalisation of Voter Helpline number

KATHUA, JANUARY 15: District Election Officer, Rohit Khajuria today reviewed preparedness for launch of “Voter Helpline”, a unique initiative to be operated from universal number 1950 for the facilitation of voters.
In the meeting, DEO said that ‘Voter Helpline’ number 1950 be made the first point of call for all the residents of the district looking for help in reference to electoral services. Voter Helpline will provide Information, Feedback, Suggestion and Complaints to all citizens and the District Contact Centre (DCC) with Voter Helpline number should start working in full efficiency, DEO asserted.
He further said that at District level, landline number 1950 be ported to DCC and should be made toll free so that a user calling from within the district shall be received at respective DCC.
The DCC shall operate on all working days from 10 AM to 5 PM and Information, Feedback, Suggestion and Complaints (IFSC) should all be taken at DCC, DEO informed and added that Voter Helpline number can be used to know about electoral registration, finding polling station and assembly constituency, lodging grievances and knowing electoral officers.
During the meeting, DEO also asked the officials of BSNL to establish a PRI line at DCC to facilitate multiple callers at a given time.
