DC Rajouri inaugurates training programme for Sarpanchs

RAJOURI, JANUARY 15: Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, today inaugurated four day Basic Foundation Course for Sarpanchs of Manjakote, Thanamandi, Panjgrain, Plangrah and Kalakote blocks.
The basic course is being organized by Rural Development Department in which all the Sarpanchs of the district will be imparted basic foundation course in four phases.
Addressing the inaugural function, DC said it is a beginning towards empowering Sarpanchs which will certainly strengthen the Panchayati Raj system in the district. He asked the Sarpanchs to optimally utilize this training towards serving better to the people. He said the main purpose of the programme is to strengthen PRIs and grass root democracy and the concept of decentralized planning in the state.
District Panchyat Officer and Master trainer, Abdul Kabir, informed that the trainees will be imparted training about Panchayati Adalats, importance of Gram Sabha, role and responsibility of Halqa Panchayat, conduct of business of Halqa Panchayat, implementation of PMAY and SBM schemes, conduct of Social Audit and its importance, planning under MGNREGA, estimation and execution of works, maintenance of muster rolls, payment of wages, labour budget, role of Panchayat Secretary, MGNREGA- registration and issuance of Job Cards, role and responsibilities of Village Vigilance and Monitoring Committee etc.
DPO also informed that guest faculty as well as Sarpanchs from outside the state will also be a part of this basic induction course who will share their success stories.
