Training cum capacity building program for Sarpanchs begins at Reasi

REASI, JANUARY 15: A four day capacity building cum training programme for 55 PRI members began here today.
Deputy Commissioner, Dr Sagar Dattatray Doifode, inaugurated the programme.
Addressing the Sarpanchs, DC said that objective of this training is to sensitize the PRI functionaries about their role and responsibilities towards local self governance and grassroots development planning. “Now as the people have done their part by selecting Sarpanchs it is incumbent upon the elected local body members to contribute towards the development of their Panchayats” he maintained.
ACD, Dr Sunil Sharma, said the sessions of training will be interactive where in the trainees will be briefed about the role of local governance in development of villages and communities, development schemes, resources of panchayats and their utilization, laws for protection of the vulnerable sections etc.
Earlier, DPO Reasi, Parvinder Kour, highlighted the salient features of the four day training module informing that Sarpanchs from Reasi, Panthal, Pouni and Katra would be covered in the first batch while two more batches will cover other Sarpanchs.
Today’s session acquainted the trainees with the importance of community participation towards micro plan development of respective villages through a role play exercise. The proceedings were conducted by Sanjeev Sharma, BDO Katra ,O.P Bhagat BDO Pouni and Aadil Iqbal BDO Reasi.
Advocate Mohammad Usman also held an interactive session with the participants.
