HM ultra arrested

BANDIPORA: Days after two active militants of the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were arrested in Shopian, the security forces on Monday achieved yet another success when they arrested another top ultra of the terror outfit in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

An official informed that "on a tip off" from Jammu and Kashmir Police, a joint team of army’s 13 RR , 162 Territorial Army including police apprehended a militant Sarfaraz Ahmed Sheer of Koil Muqam, Tangpathri in Bandipora.

A police spokesman said the arrested militant was a category ‘A’ militant and was active from last four years (since October 2014).

He said the said militant was apprehended in a joint mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) at Champazpura near Ajas in the district.

“The individual has been apprehended with pistol, satellite phone and other war like stores.

“He was operating along with Mustaq Seer and Abu Ismile of HM cadre. The Individual was also associated with ‘Sumlar’ group which got neutralized in Bandipora two months back,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit has disputed the police claim, asserting that the arrested militant does not belong to their cadre.

"No militant known as Sarfaraz Ahmad Sheer belongs to our group," Hizb spokesman Burhan-u-Din was reported saying to a Valley newswire.
