Life remains affected in parts of south Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 14: Normal life remained affected for the second day on Monday in twin south Kashmir districts of Kulgam and Shopian against the killing of two militants, including a top Al-Badr commander, in an encounter with security forces on Saturday evening.

There are no restrictions in any party of south Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

Shops and business establishments remained closed in Shopian and Kulgam on Monday also. However, shops were seen open in some areas of Kulgam on Monday.

Traffic also remained off the roads though private vehicles were plying. A complete shut down was also observed in village Sugan, Shopian, the native place of the slain militant commander Zeenat-ul-Islam.

Train services which were suspended on Sunday in south Kashmir resumed Monday morning. However, internet mobile service remained suspended as a precautionary measure to prevent spread of rumours.
