Sheila Dikshit appointed Delhi Congress chief

New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) Congress leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, was on Thursday appointed as the new chief of Delhi unit of the Congress, replacing Ajay Maken, sources said.

'Rajesh Lilotia has been made the working President of Delhi Congress,' the sources said.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Maken said,'Congratulations and best wishes to Sheila Dikshit on becoming state Congress chief again. Under her, I got the opportunity to work as a parliamentary secretary and cabinet minister. I believe that under the leadership of Sheila Ji, we will play the role of a strong Opposition against Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal governments.'

Mr Maken has resigned as Chief of party's Delhi unit, citing health reasons.

Mr Maken was appointed as the president of the Delhi Congress in 2015.
