Rupee jumps by 33 paise against USD

Mumbai, Jan 7: The Rupee on Monday surged by 33 paise to 69.39 in early trade on selling of US Dollars by bankers and exporters, dealers at Forex Market said.
Strong dollar against major global currencies overseas and a positive opening in the stock market pushed the equity market up, they added.
The rupee opened strong at 69.38 at the interbank forex market against the previous close of 69.72 per dollar amid sustained foreign fund inflows.
The local unit recorded intraday high and low at 69.48 and 69.23 respectively.
On Friday, the rupee had ended higher by 48 paise at 69.72 against the US dollar in line with smart gains in domestic equities and uptrend in other emerging market currencies.
