New Delhi, Jan 6 (UNI) The Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Sunday accused its Punjab MLA Sukhpal Khaira of trying to weaken the party, after Mr Khaira gave up his primary membership when asked him to resign from the legislator post which he won on AAP ticket.
In reaction to Mr Khaira’s decision to part away from the party, senior AAP leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in a series of tweets said, “Mr Sukhpal Khaira's resignation was expected. Party will be strengthened with his exit. He should now resign from MLA post also, which he won on party ticket.’’
Mr Sisodia also claimed that Mr Khaira started revolting against the party since post of LoP in Punjab was given to a Dalit leader.
“AAP will keep working for poor and marginalised people. Those who have problem in this can leave the party. Mr Khaira was trying to weaken party and was openly revolting against the outfit since then. He tried to break the faction. Which organisation can tolerate such behaviour?,’’ he further stated.
Citing that AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal always asserted that those who have come for position or power should leave the party, Mr Sisodia said Mr Khaira was always clamouring for position and power.
Also, AAP received a jolt a few days back after HS Phoolka quit the party.
