Srinagar, Jan 6: Normal life was crippled on Sunday in some parts of north Kashmir district of Baramulla on the 26th death anniversary of 53 civilians, who were allegedly killed in security force firing in Sopore on this day in 1993.

Meanwhile, special players were held at many mosques in Sopore and adjoining areas for the mass civilian killings in 1993.

A police official told UNI that there were no restrictions in any part of Baramulla though security forces were deployed in some sensitive areas to prevent protests.

However, shops and business establishments, which remained open on Sundays, were closed and traffic was off the roads in Sopore and adjoining areas against the killings. However, few private vehicles were seen plying on some interior roads.

The train services were also suspended for security reasons between the summer capital, Srinagar and Baramulla in view of apprehensions of trouble on Sunday.
