New Delhi, Dec 19: The BJP on Wednesday slammed Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath for his reported remarks against 'North Indians' vis-a-vis job opportunities and said the senior lawmaker from Chhindwara needs to come to the Lok Sabha and tender an apology to the nation.

"Mr Kamal Nath is an elected member of the House. All of us take oath here as 'We the People of India'....but Mr Nath has said people from Bihar and UP will not be given jobs in Madhya Pradesh. He is himself from Kanpur," BJP lawmaker Sanjay Jaiswal said during Zero Hour.

This House needs to condemn the remarks from Kamal Nath, he said amid sloganeering.

Ironically, Kamal Nath has been the senior most member of the august House and in 2014, it was he who had administered the oath to the elected members of Lok Sabha.

The MP from Paschim Champaran in Bihar, Mr Jaiswal also remarked that Mr Nath is himself from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and his elevation as the new Congress Chief Minister in the central Indian state also marked 'depriving' another Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia from the coveted post.

"Kamal Nath's remarks ought to be condemned by the House as he has tried to create a division amongst the people. It was a shameful act," he said and maintained "Kamal Nath should come to the House and tender apology".

Mr Kamal Nath was sworn in as new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on December 17.
