Republic TV Summit: NaMo shows 'Surging India' dream to countrymen in his speech

Mumbai, Dec 18 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the maiden Republic TV Summit themed 'Surging India' held here on Tuesday.

The prime minister was on a visit in the Kalyan city of Thane district where he launched multi-crore developmental projects,including the Metro Line 5 and Metro Line 9 which will connect the separate corridors of Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan and Dahisar-Mira-Bhayander,respectively.

Delivering an address here,Prime Minister Modi asserted that the theme of the summit--'Surging India'-represents the spirit of 130 crore Indians.

He delivered condolences on the deaths of the people who lost their lives in a fire accident which took place on Monday at a government-run Employees State Insurance Corporation(ESIC) Kamgar Hospital located at Marol of the suburban district.

During his speech,Prime Minister Modi made a key announcement underlining that soon only few select items would be placed under 28 per cent slab of Goods & Services Tax(GST).In this way,the items which are used on a routine basis by the general public would be taxed under the 18 per cent or other GST slabs,as per the policies.

He made references to the progressive works done in the national interests during the four-and half year tenure of the BJP goverment which include: rise of India as a five trillion dollar economy,the upward climb of India in Ease of Doing Business index,emphasis on policy-driven governance and predictable transparent policies,rapid pace of infrastructure development,among others.

Prime Minister Modi said he chairs monthly 'Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation' acronymed as PRAGATI meetings to review the progress of developmental projects going on in the country.

The projects worth 12 lakh crore rupees have been speeded up in this way,added Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister proceeded to the city of Pune where he will launch infrastructure projects at the Balewadi stadium.
