President to visit Hyderabad for Southern sojourn from Dec 21

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (UNI) : President Ram Nath Kovind would pay a four-day visit to Hyderabad from December 21 as part of Southern Sojourn.
Telangana Chief Secretary S. K. Joshi held a meeting with officials of different departments here on Monday on the arrangements to be made for the President’s visit, an official release said here on Monday.
During the visit, the President, who is arriving at Hakimpet Airport on Friday evening, would attend various programmes in Karimnagar on December 22.
On December 23, Mr Kovind will host 'At Home' receiption and on the next day, he will leave for Delhi, Mr Joshi said.
The Chief Secretary discussed on sprucing up the Rashtrapathi Nilayam, the President’s retreat in the south, besides other arrangements.
Located at Bolarum, the Rashtrapathi Nilayam was taken over from the Nizam of Hyderabad after India attained independence and handed over to the President’s Secretariat.
Constructed during 1860, the building has a total land area of 90 acres. A single-storied building, it contains about 11 rooms.
The President visits the Rashtrapathi Nilayam and stays there at least once in a year and conduct official business from there.
