Gehlot to take over as Rajasthan’s Chief Minister on Monday

Jaipur, Dec 16 (UNI) The Ashok Gehlot-led new Congress government will be installed in Rajasthan on Monday amid a big show of strength of the non-BJP opposition parties.

Governor Kalyan Singh will administer oath of the office and secrecy to Mr Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot at a grand public ceremony at the historic Albert Memorial Museum Hall here at 1000 hrs on Monday.

Top leadership of friendly non-BJP opposition parties are invited for attending the ceremony, a party state office spokesperson said.

The confirmation guest for the function are former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, Congress Parliamentary Party(CPP) leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu, RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary and RSP leader N K Prem Chandran, has already been received, spokesperson said.

Former Prime Minister H D Dev Gowda and many other renowned leaders have also been invited for the oath ceremony.

The Congress returns to power in the state after five years winning 99 of the 199 assembly seats that went to polls on December 7. The party also has support of lone ally RLD MLA and some rebel/Independents.

While for Mr Gehlot, this will be the third term as Chief Minister of the state, Mr Pilot is a first time MLA and Deputy Chief Minister of state.
