At least six people died in boiler blast in a Sugar Mill at Mudhol

Bagalkot , Karnataka, Dec 16 (UNI) At least six workers died and four others injured when a boiler exploded in a Sugar distillery in Kulali village in Mudhal taluk in this district of Karnataka on Sunday.

Police said that the factory owned by former BJP Minister and BJP MLA Murugesh Nirani. The cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained.

Mr Nirani, however, denied that the incident was due to blast in Boiler plant. The blast occurred in waste management plant of Sugar distillery plant and four workers were killed on the explosion, he added.

Police said that in the impact of the explosion the three storey building collapsed. Fire department officials are using cranes and heavy machinery to remove the debris. The death toll is likely to increase.

Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy has expressed his grief over the incident and ordered investigation into the incident.

Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly B S Yeddyurappa, who is also BJP State President, expressing his deep grief, said he has talked to Mr Nirani and has asked him to give proper compensation to the family of the deceased.
