Famous ‘Sunday Market’ in Srinagar closed due to strike
Srinagar, Dec 16: The famous ‘Sunday Market’ was closed on Sunday as the vendors have not put up their stalls in the summer capital, Srinagar, in view of the strike called by separatist against the death of seven civilians in security force action in Pulwama on Saturday.
The 3-km-long weekly market from Radio Kashmir (RK), Srinagar, crossing to Hari Singh High Streets (HSHS), including historic Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the city, attracts thousands of buyers from different parts of the valley. However, none of the vendors has put up their stalls in support of the strike.
The vendors, who sell products from simple needles to carpets, do business worth crores of rupees every Sunday in the weekly market in the heart of the city.
