JAMMU: Pakistani troops yet again violated the ceasefire on Thursday by resorting to firing on forward posts near two villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, which was strongly retaliated by the Indian Army.

“Indian and Pakistani soldiers traded fire on the LoC in Poonch,” Defence Ministry sources said.

“Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire and targetted forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) at village Bandichechian village Gulpur tehsil Havali in Poonch district,” officials said.

“Indian troops guarding the LoC retaliated and the exchange of fire between the two sides continued intermittently since last night till today morning,” an official said.

The Pakistani Army also resorted to small arms firing in Kerni forward areas in the district at 5.50 am, they added.

"Our troops retaliated effectively and strongly. Firing exchanges continued for over 20 minutes," the official said.

The Army also retaliated effectively, they said, adding that there was no loss of life or injury to anyone.

However, several residential houses are reported to be damaged due to the shelling in the village, sources said.
