15th Rajasthan Assembly constituted

Jaipur, Dec 13 (UNI) The 15th Rajasthan legislative Assembly has formally been constituted with the issuance of the requisite gazette notification.

Chief Electoral Officer Anand Kumar presented the certified copy of the list of newly elected MLAs to Governor Kalyan Singh at the Raj Bhawan here Thursday afternoon.

Prior to this, Election Commission has issued the notification for publishing in the gazette last evening, a CEO spokesman said.

The elections on 199 seats of the state legislature were held on December 7 that recorded 74.69 percent turnout (of 47.43 million electorate). The results were declared on Tuesday.

Election on Ramgarh seat in Alwar district has been countermanded following death of the BSP nominee Laxman Singh Chaudhary.

The constitution of the new House now paved way for start of process for installation of new government.

The Congress with 99 seats in the effective strength of 199 in the new House, is staging a come back to power after 5 years, with support of lone member of ally RLD and around 10 Independents. BJP won 73 seats, BSP 6, RLP 3, CPM and BTP 2 each and Independents clinched 13 seats.

The grand old party has already staked it's claim before Governor Singh last evening for formation of the new government.
