Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri get season's first snowfall

Shimla, Dec 12 : Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla, Narkanda and Kufri recorded season's first snowfall on Wednesday, much to the delight of tourists.


Jubbal- Kothai in Shimla, Tariund near Dharamshala, Solangnalha, Marhi, Kothi and Gulaba near Manali, Kalpa, Sangla, Raksham and Chitkul, Kinner and Shrikhand Mahadev in Kinnaur, Rohtang Pass, Lady of Keylong and all higher reaches of Lahaul Spiti and Chanshal pass, Khada pather and Khirki in Shimla district experienced moderate to heavy snowfall.


Vehicular traffic to Rampur and Kinnaur was through from Kufri but with an accumulation of snow, it is likely to be diverted via Mashobra, police said.


Snowfall, which started at the Himachal Pradesh capital at 0730 hrs, was continuing when the reports came in.


The downstream areas of the state recorded light to moderate rain in the last 24 hrs.
