New Delhi, Dec 10 (UNI) Supreme Court on Monday said that it would hear the appeals filed by the Maharashtra state government and accused Mirza Himayat Baig in connection with the German Blast case.
While admitting the appeals filed by the Maharashtra State government and the accused in the German bakery blast case, a division bench comprising Justices DY Chandrachud and MR Shah, said we will hear the matter in due course of time.
The Apex Court, however, did not fix any date for hearing the case.
The trial court had awarded death penalty to the accused Mirza Himayat Baig. The Bombay High Court had commuted Baig's death penalty to life imprisonment, but only under the provisions of the Indian Explosives Act.
The State government has challenged Baig's acquittal from the provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
Mirza Himayat Baig had also filed a petition before the Apex Court challenging his conviction in the case.
